What is it?
Chromesthize turns sound into color in real time. Using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis, it maps the 12 chromatic pitches to colors — a digital take on chromesthesia, a form of synesthesia where hearing music triggers the perception of color.
The app ships with pitch-to-color presets inspired by historical synesthetes — Alexander Scriabin, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Isaac Newton — each of whom documented their own mappings between musical notes and colors. Every preset is fully customizable, so you can create your own synesthetic palette.
